The bacteria that Oppenheimer talks about are very unusual bacteria. They
require very unusual habitats. One might even say, abnormal. One or more of
the following are usually the case : High salt, high metals, high heat.

These bacteria are ancient species, some of the first to evolve from the
anaerobic purple and red photosynthetic bacteria. Current conditions do not
select for their functioning. They live in thermal pools, and deep sea
vents.

They are great for some commercial processes, if you need those odd
processes.

So, I need to go look up what this particular species, or set of species, in
Biozome is supposed to do. But all our crop plants, flowers, vegies,
ornamentals, etc., require AIR for their roots to function properly. These
bacteria do not do well in air, as I recall. Not a good match.
