What I thought I said was that the hyphae get caught in the material that builds up on the filter or the strainer. As long as you don't get residue build up, straining is ok. When hyphae have to go through accumulated material, with small passageways, like felt bag material, small particulates that accumulate on nylon screens, then the fungi end up in the sludge, not in the tea.

Did I get the explanation better this time?
