Spores are supposedly rugged; might the spores survive a procedure known as banding and be introduced to the root zone using this technique/equipment?

I believe that this title is a misnomer that may have gotten some
people confused as to what the activity was -- this very interesting
and worthwhile article is about raising a supply of mycorrhizae, not
the rest of the food web, and doing so from bahia grass plugs that
were pre-inoculated with a tested group of mycorrhizae, not "native"
or indigenous ones from the farmer's soil. This apparently is part
of a 15-year research series. Part of how the mycorrhizae were
selected, if I understand this article correctly, is by testing them
in field trials with controls and other myco spores as well.
Tmain advantage of the system is to create a source of mycorrhizae
in a way cost effective to a farmer, who can use a small amount of
inoculum to produce a much larger amount, then use the soil mixture
in potting mixes or small scale plantings in which it can be added
to the planting hole. No method exists for using this method for
large-scale farming, according to the article, because of having a
means to apply the spores.
Hmm..maybe this material could be an ingredient in compost teas and
sprayed on seeds/seedlings??
