As bubbles rise through the liquid, we see fungal strands caught in the
interface between the small bubbles rising at different rates through the through
the liquid.
A factor of surface tension? But as the small bubbles move, the fungal
strands caught in the interplay of the tiny bubbles are shattered and ripped apart.
 

I think this is critical when some micrometer size bubbles are suspended
basically un-moving in the water, while slightly larger bubbles move past the
smaller size bubbles.

I report what I observe. Not being a physicist, I am not certain what
physical phenomenon this represents, but fungal strands don't do well in liquids
with very small diameter bubbles. Another reason that carbonation works so well
to suppress fungal growth?
