If the compost is not made correctly, you might have human pathogens in the compost, and that might be a problem if you allow conditions in the tea to match the growth conditions for the human pathogens. Generally these conditions are reduced oxygen, poor competitor growth. So, aerate and maintain the competitor organisms.
