Linda,

You need to do some more conversion for your answer to be correct. You've =
multiplied sq. ft. by inch (thickness) and come up with cubic feet. If you=
convert 43,560 sq. ft. to sq. inches first (multiply by 144) then your ans=
wer will be in cubic inches. Then divide by 1728 to convert to cubic feet =
and divide the quotient by 27 to convert to cubic yards per acre. OR, just=
multiply the thickness by 134.44 and you'll come up with the same answer. =
If you have 4 cubic yards to spread on an acre, just divide by 134.44 to d=
etermine thickness in inches.

  Tim,

  1/8" = .125 inches

  1 acre or 43,560 sq ft X 0.125 = 5445 cu ft

5445 divided by 27 cu ft per yard = 201 cubic yards

That certainly would be more than 2 tons! more like 100 tons?

that would mean 4,000 pounds or 2 tons, your thickness would be
approximately 1/8th of an inch over an acre of land.
