Hi Jeff -
You are right - the machines have to be designed to make it easy to clean them. How long do you take to clean your machines after a batch of fish production?
Most homeowners want easy-to-clean machines. The small size EPM machines have two 90 turns in the pipes. They HAVE to be cleaned on occassion. Not every time, but you need to be able to SEE when they need cleaning (see a color change that tells you the pipe is dirty), or you do have to clean them every time.
The KIS brewers have no pipes where the tea goes through them. So, ah-hem, cleaning is definately mere minutes. No pipes to worry about. KIS is coming out with 28, 50 and 100 gal sizes as we speak. See simplici-tea.com
WormGold has large size machines (50 gal and up) that take some cleaning, but they have followed your advice, and make it EASY to pop the pipes and diffusers off and clean them .
Alaska Giant has easy to clean machines, but you have to replace the soaker hose each time. You have to cut soaker hose up with each brew. Which is time, but it is pretty easy.
The Terrific tea brewers from Laura Sabourin are supposed to be easy to use, but we need to have Laura tell us about her brewer. The New Zealand brewer takes a good stream of water through a hose to clean, except if you forget to keep the air coming out of the aerator until the tea is drained. Then you get to clean the aerator.
But Jeff is right. We shouldn't automatically shy away from 90 degree turns, except if you really hate to spend time cleaning.
Guess what? I hate to spend time cleaning......
