Re: [compost_tea] composted cow manure on vegetable beds
Why is it hot and what are the temps? 100+? If it is still hot, it is sti=
ll composting. There probably isn't enough carbon to make a good balance. =
If it has been turned a lot, spreading it should not be a problem. Yes, t=
here are some pathogens but chances are that after three months of turning =
they will not be a major factor. If you spread it on the surface and water=
it in, the soil biology should take care of the pathogens. All you are re=
ally getting here is N in a different form.
Remember that the Romans made teas by flowing water over manure and using t=
hat to grow everything including the plants where they nurtured snails for =
consumption. There doesn't seem to be any historical association with stoma=
ch problems among Romans. Now in England. . .

Subject: [compost_tea] composted cow manure on vegetable beds
Question,
I have come across some composted cow manure - turned with a small bulldo=
zer for about 3 months, hot,and mixed only with a small amount of wood shav=
ings. There is virtually no manure smell nor anaerobic odor to this mix.
