that has seeds!
<><<><Hey Jeff I was waiting for the distinction but this adds more
confusion relative to seeds. Prairie hay(native grass mowed green,
dried and then baled or stacked) probably and generally will have way
fewer seeds than straw (wheat, oat or barley) cause these straws are
generally, not always, baled after the grain matures. And in that
(mature grain)straw there can be many mature weed seeds, in
particular grassy "weeds" which are a pain in the neck to garden
with. Prairie hay can have unwanted seeds too. You'd have to look at
the field or send samples for identification to verify or quantify.
There are other hays such as brome, oat and wheat(mowed green, dried
and baled or stacked prior to grain harvesting). We may want to
discuss this further as there are other differences besides
seeds..Dennis
Whew...it is a good thing I am constantly corrected on that! Ignore
my post!
