[compost_tea] mushroom compost and chitin degraders?

SFI's CT Brewing Manual,in its discussion of the 2001 SARE grant,
says that mushroom compost was abandoned as a source of CT compost
because it "was shown to contain many inhibitory compounds which
killed the other organisms in the tea."

Can anyone comment on what specifically those compounds were?
Wouldn't a mushroom compost be full of chitin degraders?  And
wouldn't they (the CD's) be antagonistic to a diverse fungal compost
or compost tea?  What are the ramifications of making a high chitin
degrader tea and then using it as a foliar or soil drench on a
perennial system where you want to encourage fungi?  Is a tea of this
nature too specific in the set of organisms it encourages?  Or,
conversely, would such a chitin-degrader-rich tea be antagonistic to
foliar diseases and insects?
