[compost_tea] Re: Re: Re: Aged manure?
Doc -- A point I was trying to make is that aged manure, indeed, is NOT
compost, but it's not raw manure, either. But latter is where USNOP puts
it, inappropriately. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that, thought I was.
Historically, I believe it has been a mainstay of organic growers and it's
unfortunate they've chosen to relegate it to raw manure classification.
NOP have used manure and pathogen hysteria as a wedge against compost tea,
vermicompost, and a multitude of ways manures have been treated and used for
centuries, safely. Most frustrating and unfair, but clever - Want to delay
or derail something? Invent a problem and put 5-10 years of research
requirements in the way. No way I can do all that research (would
contribute if possible, though) but agree it probably needs to be done to
bring these particular buggers around. Sigh.
Maybe a new government will present a better attitude? This is a function
of attitude and politics, not reality. I think there must be people in USDA
who know better.
Thanks Jimmy (and Doc) for dung beetle clarification. Interesting critters.
Look forward to meeting one.
