My orchard sits on glacial till and has very poor soil. I add

at least 10 pounds of granite fines around the base of each tree

in the spring. The quarry nearby considers this waste material and

is happy to part with it. Other quarries in my area also mine basalt.

I’ll use whatever they have. Not only did I learn that my trees appreciated the

added rock dust (or fines or flour) but that a five gallon bucket of rock

dust is heavier than a five gallon bucket of rock. J

This is one of those posts that are so far out I think someone's trying to

drive me off the list. Are you? How in heck does granite dust encourage

fungal growth? It makes absolutely no sense to me.
