Healthy Without Chemicals, Lush Without Rain:

Sustainable Organic Turf Practices

 for the Professional

Friday, July 16, 2004
Lake Washington Technical College

What: Increasing numbers of homeowners are requesting natural landscape ca=
re and professionals are learning that using natural techniques can create =
sustainable landscapes. These landscapes include turf deeply rooted in exc=
ellent topsoil that can survive summer drought and irrigation restrictions =
while remaining green and lush. Turf managed using traditional, chemical b=
ased practices often goes dormant-brown-in these circumstances. Chemical-b=
ased landscape management can result in many other problems, not the least =
of which is pollution of area waters resulting in diminishing salmon runs. =
This conference provides turf professionals with seminars and hands-on exp=
erience in the basics of natural, sustainable turf management, including ma=
king an applying aerated compost tea.

When/Where: Friday, July 16th at Lake Washington Technical College, 11605 =
- 132nd Ave. NE, Kirkland WA 98034. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and t=
he first speaker takes the stage at 8:00 a.m. Conference ends at 5:00 p.m.=
, with a social/networking opportunity to follow.

logist; Jeff Anderson, mycorrhizae expert; and Hendrikus Shraven, award win=
ning landscaper and owner of the Hendrikus Shraven comprehensive landscape =
businesses.
