The refractometer tells you after the application that things have improved.
If you apply as a foliar spray, you can make a determination in less than an
hour. Soil application can take up to two weeks (during the growing season)
to manifest. Experimenting is the only way to find the materials and
application rate that work well in your situation. The problem is that there
is no crystal ball about what works, only guidelines. Nurturing and
interpreting the monitoring of plants is at least as much art as science.
You know you've something right when the results are very obvious.
