[compost_tea] USNOSB & Compost Tea

This coming Wednesday afternoon, the US National Organic Standards Board
will likely forward a compost tea recommendation to the USDA National
Organic Program.

For those of you who don't know, USNOP has tried to ban compost tea as an
organic practice, tried to make its use difficult or impractical, and NOSB
has consistently differed.

EU certifiers accept compost teas as a basic practice and most USNOP
certifiers do, as well. There have been no reports of public health problems
in decades of certified organic use. USNOP needs to get off their pathogen
paranoia and accept that compost teas are safe and beneficial.  Biology is
both bigger and safer than chemistry.  They should support all compost teas
and get out of the way of what we are doing here. Goodness knows, they
should fund better, positive research and data collection on composts and
teas, too.

Send good vibes to NOSB and NOP in Washington DC this Wednesday.
May be good things will happen.

Kirk
