We have been direct-marketing our natural lamb for over a decade
through
mail-order and to Chez Panisse, a well-known restaurant that is
sincere in
its emphasis on small farm sustenance.
We will become certified organic as the regulations become uniform,
but we
have followed the advice of Amigo Bob Cantisano (a well-known organic
consultant) for over twenty years.
We have foothill pastures that are rotated for the herds' primary
diet.
Strict management is the key to success.
We began a web site for the lamb last year, and have started another
site
to help direct marketers across the nation:
http://www.farm-to-you.com
It is a service to connect the urban dwellers with the farmers and
their
products. It can provide knowledge of and access to the csa farmers in
their county or to farmers across the continent who have shippable
products.
We will advertise in the cooking magazines that support the internet
connection,(most do), later this year. But we want our network to be
complete when such promotion begins.
We began the site at the end of 1999, and we get over 500 hits a day.
No web site is needed; farmers who don't have web sites or Email are
getting inquiries; their contact method is by phone or by mail.
The site is self-explanatory-take a look; we work for the farmer-any
feedback is often utilized.
