TOPIC: UPDATED ORGANIC RESOURCE GUIDE ANNOUNCED

More information about the Guide and related topics
is on our website, http://www.monitor.net/~cap

Hi all -

Well, after many months of burning the midnight oil, talking with
gazillions of people locally and around the country, and wearing our
computer's mouse to a nub (really!), we are delighted to announce our
(significant) update to "The Organic Traveler's Guide."

Subtitled "Exploring Organics in Northern California's Sonoma, Napa, and
Mendocino Counties," the Guide is part of our volunteer community-supported
group's work to help nurture less-toxic food and agriculture, locally and
around the world.

This year's Guide has two major sections:

(1) Our significantly expanded listings section, which makes it incredibly
easy for both locals and visitors to explore and be nourished by local
places that offer organic food, wine, and more. This includes farms,
farmer's markets, restaurants, wineries, nurseries, retreats, educational
opportunities, and more. With an overview map plus contact information,
hours, and directions for each place, discovering this area's organic
treasures becomes a breeze. What new organic delights can you discover,
this summer and all year round? And while you're having healthy fun,
you're helping support local organic agriculture and a less-toxic world!

(2) We've also added extensive summary information and resources to deepen
understanding and support effective action about organic and related
issues. This includes information about what's going on with today's food
and farms; the true costs of pesticides; the true value of organics; local
activities like school and community gardens and CSAs; what foods are in
season when; less-toxic gardening; biodynamics; seed-saving; and much more.
Throughout are specific actions and contact information to support you in
taking constructive action for a better world for yourself, your children,
and other beings around the globe. This new information brings the Guide to
104 pages, almost three times as big as the previous edition.

Early reviewers have been thrilled to have all this vital information at
their fingertips, in such a well-designed and attractive format. Our deep
hope is that this Guide makes it easy for more and more people to act more
and more effectively to reduce the serious harm of toxic pesticides and
help create a healthier, happier, less-toxic bioregion and world for
everyone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"We are at a crucial time in agriculture, both locally and globally, where
key decisions are being made about how our food is grown and distributed.
These decisions greatly impact what our health, our work, and our
communities will look like long into the future. Will this area continue
to have beautiful small farms and their fresh, delicious produce? Or will
we become dominated by concrete, steel, and long-distance food, as other
places have? And will farms harm our health and our world by growing our
food with toxic pesticides? Or will they work with and support natural
ecosystems? Our goal is to support people - as citizens and as consumers -
in participating constructively in vital choices like these."
