Re: permaculture digest: July 31, 2000

As someone who is interested enough in the ways
and means of Permaculture, about to take a course from
the Aussie correspondence school etc. I find this
whole topic (who owns what and who gets what from whom
when) to be quite a big put-off. I might as well just
use the techniques and call the whole thing
'lancescaping' and just ignore all of this gibberish.
We are too far along the pathway of no return to
squabble about ownership and copyrights. PERIOD.
I come to Permaculture from the neo-pagan
community which i left due to an inordinate amount of
bitching. Well it looks like ALL of the
'alternatives' are wrapped up in 'i,me,mine'. So what
to do? Does Mr. Mollison NEED more money and
prestige? Ideas are slippery creatures at best as
most inventors will tell you. As R. A. Wilson says (i
think it's his 5th law) "It steam engines, when it's
steam engine time". If a stinking logo helps
perpetuate a good idea, rip it off. Or maybe just
make one that's close. What we are looking at is the
end of the blocks of power. It is alot like the
Napster miasma. The dinosaurs (record companies,
bloated rock stars, etc.) want it shut down. If you
look closer you will see lots of 'electronic dance
music' on Napster put there BY THE ARTIST. Techno
isn't about ego, it's about dance. Permaculture is
about_____, ....
