The following are highlights of the three hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61) North of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
November 10, 2002
57 species were seen and/or heard before and during heavy rain. The most
interesting were; 25 Wood Ducks, 15 Green-winged Teal, 150 Blue-winged Teal,
2 Hooded Mergansers, 2 Northern Harriers, 1 Sharpshinned Hawk, 1
Red-shouldered Hawk, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 Virginia Rail, 3 Soras, 3 Common
Snipe, 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 1 Marsh Wren, 2
Golden-crowned Kinglets, 1 White-eyed Vireos, and 1 Orange-crowned Warbler.
