Early this morning I visited Beaver Dam Creek (three bridge
crossings) in the southeastern corner of Cumberland County. I saw
some good birds, including my first yellow-bellied sapsucker of the
season. The best bird was a brown creeper. I saw several very
pretty swamp sparrows in addition to the more numerous white-throated
and song sparrows.
Early this afternoon, back at home, a spotted two golden-crowned
kinglets zipping through the trees in the backyard. While I usually
see a few g-c kinglets in the county during the winter, these were
the first in my yard.
