     Early this morning I visited Beaver Dam Creek (three bridge 
crossings) in the southeastern corner of Cumberland County.  I saw 
some good birds, including my first yellow-bellied sapsucker of the 
season.  The best bird was a brown creeper.  I saw several very 
pretty swamp sparrows in addition to the more numerous white-throated 
and song sparrows.
     Early this afternoon, back at home, a spotted two golden-crowned 
kinglets zipping through the trees in the backyard.  While I usually 
see a few g-c kinglets in the county during the winter, these were 
the first in my yard.
