The following are highlights of the 3 hour birdwalk at Charleston County's
Caw Caw Park in Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
January 18, 2003
54 species were seen and/or heard on a cold and windy day. The most
interesting were; 1 adult Bald Eagle on nest, 1 Northern Harrier, 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 2 Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 Great Horned
Owl on nest, 1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird ( not seen on a regular basis ), 2
Belted Kingfishers, 4 Downy Woodpeckers, 2 Hairy Woodpeckers, 2 Pileated
Woodpeckers, 4 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 2 Pine Warblers, 2 Palm Warblers,
and 1 Black-and-white Warbler.
