Waterfowl migration through the southern mountains has been pretty lame so
far, with no big flocks of anything passing through yet. So one is always
grateful for what does show up. This afternoon there was a flock of seven
Horned Grebes on Lake Julian in Buncombe County. Otherwise, the only migrants
there were three Ring-billed Gulls and the ever increasing number of
Cormorants. Maybe this warm weather coming through will bring in some more
migrants.
