I believe it is from HAMLET..& GOES SOMETHING LIKE: I am but mad
north-northwest..when the wind is southerly I can tell a hawk from a
Hearnshaw
Hand saw is a corruption of this & it means heron.
All of this from memory. I am getting old, so it may not be completely
accurate
