Sitting on my deck this morning about 11 AM, I heard a bird about 4 ft away
on my feeder, mindlessly thinking it was a Gold Finch but then realized they
don't usually sit on the feeder when I'm that close. I looked up to see a
Pine Siskin, my first all winter. 2 of the last 5 years there have been
flocks in the area that grew up to 300 or more and occasionaly I have had
them all summer.
I suppose this one was heading up to Mt. Mitchell to summer.
