Harry LeGrand makes a series of very cogent points on the latest National
Audubon plan togut the CBC report volume, whatever they may be calling it
this year. I for one, subscriber to American Birds since the early 70's, will
not spend the $10.00, a modest enough charge, just to see my name in print.
Further, I feel like Harry that collecting the $5.oo per person fee, to get
the gutted out data published, is probably not worth it, but then they may
not even put it on the web if you don't have at least some money, and names,
attached to it. So perhaps the answer is to put a minimum of names, and fees,
with each count, and use the net, however inconvenient, for data extraction.
I like Harry's suggestion that The Chat resume publication of the data,
perhaps purged of participant names, other than the compiler, and with
location data only shown when a center has been shifted, etc. And if NAt Aud
doesn't want us to inffringe on their name (CBC), we can call them winter
counts.
