C'Birders:
I'm so excited I can hardly type. The neighbor, 2nd house from corner where
Sunset Lakes Blvd makes a right angle turn has 2 or 3 hummingbirds. I am
sure that one is a Black-Chinned, at any rate it has a row of purple
spangled feathers at the base of the throat. The people there had
mentioned they still had hummingbirds and I told them a couple of days ago
to let me know when they were there. Well, today I stopped by after
ascertaining the Cinnamon Teal is still here. And only waited a minute and
caught sight of him, the male hummer. They are hanging out in a hedge row
along a drainage into the lake. The feeders are on the back (lakeside,
west, towards the dam). The homeowners think there are 3, I am sure there
are at least two. I don't have Susan's E-mail address handy. Help. The
homeowners are willing to have them banded. I'll check and see if I can get
some more looks now and find out if they mind visitors.
My apologies to people who have already come to see the Cinnamon teal for
not following up more thoroughly sooner re the hummers.
Keep those rarities coming.
