Hi there!
I left work early last night to run an errand, and therefore I happened to be
crossing Lake Crabtree (via Aviation Pkwy) while it was still light.
As I crawled along with the slooow traffic, I spotted a large, dark colored
bird flying from the east side of the overpass to the west. It glided for a
moment, and I noticed the very straight, flat sillouhette of the wings. I
suspected it was a Bald Eagle.
Sure enough, as soon as it dipped down in front of the dark trees, I could
see the white head and tail. The eagle landed in a bare tree, where another
adult was perched. Traffic came to a stop at that point, so I rolled down the
window to get a better look at the birds.
As we started up again, one of the eagles lifted off and started flying
slowly across from west to east. He was very low, and passed right in front
of me. He was so close, I could see his eyes.
I saw my first Bald eagle in 1996 at Jordan Lake. I've seen them several
times since then. It doesn't matter how many times I see one, it always gives
me butterflies. They are such gorgeous birds.
Oh, PS and OT; I just bought my first house! :-)
