Dear Carolina birders--I am hosting an annual falconry
meet this year next Sat--On many birding trips many of
you have expressed an interest in seeing this and you
are welcome. You will see goshawks,Cooper's Harris and
redtails do their thing. This is not riding around in
a car --you will be participants and welcome ones! You
beome(as is the falconer) a beagle to help serve up
game for the bird--"First the bird, next the horse,
then the falconer" to quote Willie. We are not having
this at my farm in Trenton but rather at the Hills
quail plantation near Dover-Lunch will be provided as
well as tea, etc. You will need boots, brush pants
ideally--D NOT WEAR AN ANIMAL HAT SUCH AS COONSKIN ONE
WITH A TAIL Abouncin!-Just kidding-Directions are as
follows: Get on Highway 70 at Kinston and procced East
towards New Bern--A few miles outside of town
(Kinston) you will see a sign saying "Dover Exit".
This is across theHighway and there is abuilding there
called Tilghman's garage-Take this exit and go
approximately 1 mile. You will cross railroad tracks
and take a LEFT at N. West St . This turn or road will
be just before the small post office on the right and
a sore on the left.Stay on this road for approximately
4.9 or 5 milesand take a LEFT on toCobbtown Road. You
will see a sign saying "Hidden Hills Farm". You will
see 50 acres ofplastic walnut tree protectors and a
large barn or equipment shed. There will be a one story
greybuilding which is the Hills lodge--this is where
we we will meet this Sat at 730-8am.If you get lost
you can try their farm manager, Gary Rouse, whose
number (car) is 2525215707 or mine(2526389824). You
are truly welcome and hopefully we will see you
there.clancy ballenger
