Sargents to be on A&E; birding camp; summer jobs

Hi Carolinabirders,

Saw on Floridabirds that Bob and Martha Sargents, those famous hummer-
philes from Alabama who swing through our states regularly, are going to
be on TV. Cable TV. A&E, specifically. 8m PM January 27, and 12 AM
January 28. I don't have cable, I'll have to watch at my girlfriend's
house...

Not too many more western vagrants to report, except from one spot. A
birder visiting Zellwood Farms near Orlando (which I thought was part of
the Lake Apopka area closed to the public after massive amounts of
pesticides were found in the soil of former sugarcane farms there; maybe
it's been reopened) reported an astonishing four Ash-throated
Flycatchers, plus one Brown-crested, one Scissor-tailed, five Least, one
Cassin's Kingbird, and several Westerns! I'd dismiss the report as a joke
or a collossal bunch of misidentifications, but the report came from
Harry Robinson, a well-regarded longtime birder of that area.

And for another debate on "countability", there's a Smew in the St. Louis
area.

The Virginia listserv is having a thread on birding/nature camps. Folks
here in the Carolinas who have nature-loving kids might be interested.
See http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/VABD.html

Found an advertisement for a bird-related summer job on BIRDCHAT. Pasted
it below, if anyone's interested; the job's based in Maryland, and looks
to be mostly computer-based.
