Just saw my first butterfly of the year, a beautiful
question mark hanging out near Mahonia blooms with a
bunch o' bees(honey bees?).
And I definitely saw the chickadee in a nestbox. For
the last two years, carpenter bees have taken over the
chickadee nest. Does anyone have a clue how to stop
this? They seem to burrow into the nest, and not much
is left of the nest at the end of summer. Wasps are
easy to keep out using soap or vaseline on the ceiling
and sides, but what about these guys?
