Research Analyst – Corporate Research

The Culinary Institute of America, the world’s premier culinary
college is looking for an Research Analyst to become  an integral part
of the Corporate Relations (CR) team.  The Research Analyst, Corporate
Relations will work collaboratively with the CR Team to coordinate and
conduct CR activities, which include the writing of contact reports;
developing prospect strategies; researching corporations, foundations
and individuals; coordinating site visits; creating reports for the
team; creating and executing stewardship plans; developing marketing
tools;  executing mailings and various other special projects.
The Research Analyst will perform a variety of duties involved in the
collection, interpretation and documentation of data on CR prospects.

Responsibilities Include:
·         Perform a variety of duties involved in collecting,
interpreting, documenting and summarizing descriptive, analytical and
evaluative data on prospective donors in support of corporate/foundation
research and/or information gathering activities. Procure data using
various research methods to include telephone and personal interviews,
electronic database searches and monitor news sources to track donors,
prospects and fundraising opportunities. Conduct library and online
research, analyze various records, journals and other sources to include
estate and tax records, stockholdings, family backgrounds, and financial
and company records. Analyze financial and biographical information and
make recommendations for funding opportunities. Identify new prospects
and suggest approach strategies and areas of giving. Coordinate monthly
CR prospect review meetings.  Write and manage proposals and agreements
for the CR team.

·         Collaborate with the CR team and develop a CR Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP) guide to ensure that appropriate policies and
procedures are in place for all CR activities. In cooperation with the
CR team work to organize and coordinate a master CR plan as it relates
to the overall operations of the CR division. Develop research
strategies and write and revise procedures as requested. Manage
corporate and foundation prospect and donor information including
tracking cultivation and solicitation progress. Create a system for
managing CR contact reports. Coordinate and time-to-time participate in
donor site-visits for CR team. Manage deadlines of all CR activities and
initiatives.

·         Work with the CR team to establish a comprehensive
stewardship plan for Corporations/Corporate Foundations/Gift-in-Kind
organizations. Coordinate CR stewardship plan and activities with
Advancement Operations. Manage all CR stewardship timelines. Collaborate
with Advancement Operations to manage systems, files and donor
information as it relates to CR. Design and implement a monthly CR
“Briefing” to send to our CR constituents. Assist the CR team in
identifying and developing marketing/communication tools to aid in our
CR fundraising efforts.

Required Qualifications:
·         A minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education
fund raising or related experience working in a fast-paced corporate
environment with high level individuals preferred; and knowledge of
fund-raising database systems and computer software programs highly
desired.
·         Strong command of LexisNexis research database systems,
Blackbaud and Hoovers is a plus.  Strong organizational and project
management experience and credentials are essential.  Previous
experience in the Foodservice and Hospitality industry is also
desirable.  An appreciation for the unique role played by The Culinary
Institute of America in the foodservice industry and higher education is
desired.
·         High level thinking, planning and communications skills for
fund raising planning activities.
·         Experienced self-starter and previous management experience
required with demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented
environment.
·         Pro-active and independent, with ability to lead and work in
a team-oriented environment.
·         Demonstrated influencing skills in situations of
responsibility without direct authority.
·         Superior written and verbal communication skills.
·         Extensive professional writing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
·         Bachelor’s Degree
·         Must demonstrate understanding of prospect research function
in higher education fund raising and the ability to interpret financial,
technical, and trade documents and journals, including annual reports,
SEC filings, etc.  Must be highly organized, able to work both
independently and collaboratively with diverse parties, and have an
ability to work under pressure to coordinate multiple requests and meet
competing deadlines.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and
Powerpoint. The individual must possess excellent writing, editing, and
communication skills.  The individual must exhibit high energy, with a
collegial and positive outlook/approach and be goal directed and success
oriented.  Unquestionable integrity is a given.  Creative and
entrepreneurial spirit is expected.
Must have the flexibility to travel as needed, and attend events that
extend after normal, business hours.

  • Design and implement proprietary qualitative research including focus groups, IDI’s and ethnographies providing detailed reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Present findings and research-backed recommendations to colleagues and senior management.
  • Work closely with Analytics And Syndicated teams to generate deeper, integrated insights.
  • Effectively make the case for research to inform business decisions, when appropriate.
  • Develop strong working relationships across multiple business units, integrating priorities to maximize research value.
  • Keep NYT up-to-date on the latest research methodologies and vendors.
  • Manage research projects to meet objectives and deliver on time and on budget.

Requirements:

  • A four-year college degree is required.  An advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of media research experience. Cross-platform media experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with colleagues across the organization including senior management.
  • Highly effective presentation skills.
  • Experience in integrating custom research with Syndicated and Analytics data sets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

• Oversee content strategy and editorial management of MSSB’s newly built intranet site, called 3D Resources (3DR), ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the firm overall and each business area’s need to communicate information on 3DR.

• Manage ongoing author training to ensure proper use of 3DR’s backend, including content tagging so that all information can be easily accessed.  Leverage 3DR metrics to gain insights into what training needs to be developed and delivered.


A successful candidate will have significant experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.  Ideally the candidate will have an editorial background, preferably with digital experience.  The candidate will always be eager to ensure that our field and employees have the latest, accurate information on topics that are “of the moment,” so the candidate will need to keep a watchful eye on the markets and other current events that would impact our clients.
Wealth management experience is not necessary, but preferred.  The candidate will have a deep understanding of the evolving nature of digital technologies and content distribution.  Proven ability to manage ongoing programs and enhance processes as needed.
