SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST

Prepare confidential reports on major and prospective donors to the Institute.  Work closely with major gift officers to help develop strategies to find and engage existing prospects. Provide clear and succinct presentation of relevant information to facilitate the staff’s ability to form long and productive donor relationships.  Analyze complex financial and employment information to establish or re-evaluate gift capacity ratings for major prospects. Collaborate with staff to develop strategies for identifying new prospects, and conduct independently managed research projects to identify and evaluate potential donors.

Review, evaluate and assist in re-prioritizing prospect portfolios to identify those with the greatest potential to support the Institute. Review business and regional publications to identify possible new prospects for the Institute.  Assist in setting up and maintaining prospect tracking systems. Assist in special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree required.  Preferred minimum of four years work experience, though graduate-level education may count towards experience.  Minimum of two years of previous research experience, preferably in development research.  Previous experience with computers, preferably the Macintosh, and standard office software (MS Office suite) is required.

Strong research and writing skills; ability to analyze and synthesize information, particularly to evaluate and interpret financial data and individual wealth indicators; familiarity with standard references; ability to interact well with others for the purpose of soliciting information and prioritizing work assignments; organizational skills and initiative; ability to meet deadlines and work under time constraints; experience with on-line databases.  Individual should have a strong commitment to accuracy and excellent judgment.

Clark University seeks an experienced Development Research Analyst to join our Advancement team.  Working closely with gift officers and reporting to the Director of Advancement Research and Major Gifts, the Development Research Analyst will help identify new prospects and assign capacity ratings and assist in the development of strategies for engaging and cultivating major gift prospects.
Responsibilities include developing proactive prospecting methodologies to support fundraising objectives; conducting in-depth research on individuals utilizing print, electronic and on-line resources; analyze, interpret and summarize financial disclosure documents for purposes of wealth assessment and present findings and results in discussions about strategy.
Bachelor’s degree and two or more years experience in development research or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Previous experience in higher education preferred.  Qualified candidates will possess an understanding of the role of prospect research in fundraising and a demonstrated ability to utilize electronic and web-based databases to conduct research.  Excellent analytical skills and strong oral and written communications skills are essential.  Solid computer skills, including word processing and database management are necessary.  Must be able to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.  Raiser’s Edge experience preferred, but not required.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in library or information science. Experience with Lexis-Nexis Universe for Development Professionals, Hoover’s Online, and foundation research tools. Familiarity with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement Statement of Ethics and Prospect Research Skills Set.

The incumbent will also provide recommendations, and commitments in completing assigned duties and to handle administrative tasks in support of the day-to-day program efforts of the department.

Salary Range    $3,245 – $5,193, plus any negotiated salary increase for which this position may be eligible.

The Associated Press seeks two temporary Video Librarians within the Video Archives division of its Washington D.C. location.

The Video Librarians will catalogue, digitize and make high value video materials available for reuse and resale by AP staff and customers.  The priority for this project is to catalogue the different tapes (DV Cam, Beta, etc.) and file formatted Presidential material dating back to the 1980’s through present.  This includes reviewing materials regarding their policies, milestones, campaigns etc.  The Video Librarians will locate uncatalogued video materials to match specific research requirements provided by the sales team and use editorial judgment in selecting the most relevant shots.  The successful candidates will provide background information as part of cataloguing video materials and will carry out basic video editing to compile and digitize the most relevant shots.  The Video Librarians will obtain feedback on cataloguing work to ensure it meets the requirements provided by the sales team.  The ideal candidates will liaise with the Head of Business Operations, Head of Content Operations and other local staff to identify the best available video material.

The Video Librarians are temporary positions.

Qualifications:

-Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience

-Knowledge of videotape and film formats, video delivery methods, video files and archiving practices

-Ability to shotlist videos using industry standard terminology and levels of detail

-Good editorial judgment

-Keen interest in news, current affairs and recent US and world history

-Keen interest in television, particularly documentaries and programming that contains archive footage

-Detail oriented

-Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and vendors at all levels
