Dear Sudarshan Swamy,
I really liked ur note. In fact I would say that such a society should be the
model one. I detest the argument in the letter which u have replied that
Rudram & chamakam are not to be chanted by vaishnavas. I have the following
reply for that letter.
Who said that Rudram & chamakam are not to be chanted by vaishnavas? Where is
the pramanam for such a statement? Please for heaven sake dont foment such
attitude.
For your kind information, Rudram & Chamakam forms part of Krishna yajurveda
samhitha and all yajurvedis are supposed to recite it. Every acharya of ours
have recited it in their brahmayagnyams (it is a practise followed to recite
one prasnam of the 82 in brahmayagnyam daily) to keep mastry over it. Rudram is
a powerful manthram to ward off eveil effects & I remember my elite
srivaishnavaite grand father reciting it. In all vedaparayan goshtis this is
recited invariably. For all srivaishnavas everything in there is Lord's praise.
Please dont undermine them & take their names with respect and not with
contempt.
I like the activities u r conducting in Kuwait & I am completely elated about
them.
All the best for good future activities

Dear Sri M.Sadagopan,
I am extremely saddened to read your most unkind and
uncharitable note. I can't imagine why as a good
SriVaishnavan you allow yourself to be overtaken by
feelings of petty ill-will.
Do you live in Kuwait? Do you know any of the members
of the T'venkatam group here? If you knew us you would
never write the things you have done.
The Group members here are just about 30-40 families.
We have all come away from our homelands for the sake
of livelihood, professional advancement and for the
sake of our respective children.
We come from different social backgrounds and hail
from different regions of India. We also come from
different religious sects. There are SriVaishnavas
amongst us, both Tenkalai and Vadagalai, 'smArtA-s',
there used to be "mAdhvA-s" too. We have Tamil
Brahmins, Telugu Brahmins, Palghat Brahmins. We have
SriVaishnavas who hail from Tirupati, Kanchipuram,
Puram, TiruvellikEni....
Sir, we are a very heterogenous, very mixed group. And
yet we are all like one large, happy family here. We
meet, we pray, we worship, we celebrate, we laugh, we
sing...
If you ask us how and why, I can say only this:
In spite of our heterogenuity, we have 2 common things
that bond us all together tightly:
One, all of us, irrespective of our sectarian loyalty,
are devoted to the Lord of Tirumala. Which is why we
call ourselves the "tiruvenkatam" group.
Second, all of us know that in spite of belonging to
various sects, we have a common root, which is the
Vedas. Which is why we all do "vEdadhyAyana". We do it
together -- leaving aside all our sectarian
differences.
Let me also tell you amongst the SriVaishnavas here,
there is absolutely no feeling of "I'm Tenkalai, You
are Vadagalai". We all learn and celebrate the
"divya-prabhandham". We all learn "dEsika-stOtrA-s".
Every year we all celebrate in a grand manner the
"tirunakshatram" of ManavAla-muni. (I wish you could
see the photographs we have of last year's
celebrations at the residence of one of our good
members, Sri P.T.Narayanan!).
Who told you that we don't recite the "taniyans" of
Tenkalai 'AchAryA-s"? At every monthly "sravaNOtsavam"
that we have here in Kuwait, we ensure that the
respective "tanians" and "vaazhi tirunAmam" of both
"kalai-s" are recited without fail. Both Vadagalai and
Tenkalai members recite it loudly and reverently.
Sir, I do not know what right you have to imagine
things and hurl such unkind accusations against our
T'venkatam Group, Kuwait. Either you are completely
misinformed or you are being very malicious.
We are living here in Kuwait as one large happy
Vaideeka family. Please do not create mischief amongst
us by sowing the seeds of petty, sectarian divisions
amongst us. Please do not break-up our little family.
Yours sadly,
dAsan,
Sudarshan
