God Hid His Face
Selected Poems of RAJZEL ZYCHLINSKY

A Snow Falls

A snow falls in the dusk
and falls.
Streetlamps stretch forth white hands.
There blunders in the snow in the dusk
a deported,
alien,
homeless Jew.
The snow falls and falls-
not from heaven, but out of some distant,
bloodless planet,
the Jew will go off
and leave no track,
and will never
again come back.
