Re: Jacob Friedrich Brodbeck

The January 2000 issue of Texas Highways contains an article by Gene Fowler titled "Those Magnificent Lone Star Flying Machines" in which there is some information on Brodbeck. Possibly the most useful information may be reference to the book Jacob Brodbeck "Reached for the Sky" in Texas by Anita Tatsch and available for $14.95 from the Gillespie Coiunty Historicla Society's Pioneer Museum Gift Shop and Vereinskirche Museum, 312 Wesst San Antonio, Fredericksburg 78624. telephone 830-997-2835. Mention is also made to the Amercan Aviation Research Association but no address or other information is provided. This group may be helpful if you can find it.
I seem to recall an archives in the Dallas ares (perhaps the University of Texas at Dallas) which began several years ago to develope a collection on the history of lighter than air flight. They may have something on Brodbeck. It is likely that Brodbeck still has descendants living in the Hill County of Texas. His great-grandson Sherman Brodbeck was shefiff of Blanco County in 1982.
