As a donor who has given museums items with documentation classifying it as
a "permanent loan." Here is my reason. I could not use the tax write-off,
was "in effect" giving it as a donation, BUT if the museum ever closes,  I
would get it back. Many museums do not stand the test of time. And it is the
newest museums that are most in need of donations.
