I just read that story. I did not see the signed documents but can't
understand it being called a "permanent" loan. If they reclaimed ownership,
how  was that "permanent?" It must have been a "simple" loan. My attornies
make it clear to me before signing an UNCONDITIONAL permanent loan, that
(unless the museum disolves) "Consider it gone." Their exact words. And I
have no say if or how it is to be used or licensed or restricted or anything
else. They are free to use it or not, as they wish. I agree, that, if
restrictions are placed on the use of the material, or donors must be
consulted, it isn't without numerous problems.
