Job Title: Senior Manuscript Librarian, HU-11 Minimum $35,049. Annually
General Functions: The purpose of this position is to assist in developing
and implementing policies and procedures for the administration of
manuscript materials. Evaluates, sorts, arranges, describes, implements
preservation measures, prepares reference, retrieval, and storage tools, and
maintains administrative files for the preservation, research access, and
administration of manuscript materials. Performs other job-related duties as
assigned.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Graduate degree in a humanities or social
science field with academic training in archival and manuscript collections
management or master's degree in Library and Information Science with a
concentration in the administration of archives or manuscript collections
from an ALA-accredited institution. Two years of professional archival
experience in an area appropriate to providing a background relative to the
effective organization of related research services. Ability to recognize,
understand and interpret manuscript collections management concepts,
principles and standard practices. Ability to promote resource utilization
via writings and publications. Ability to train and supervise others.
Competence in oral and written English. Ability to establish and maintain
effective and harmonious relationships with faculty, staff, students,
donors, researchers, University officials, and the public. Mature judgement
and the ability to prioritize and adapt to numerous duties that must be
performed. Handles, lifts, and moves materials, boxed and unboxed as
necessary to support the operation of this position.
