requesting advice on purchasing copies of old master's theses (not available via UMI)

Good morning, all--
I am receiving conflicting information from various librarians within my
immediate & small library world.
Can someone advise me on the most successful way to purchase master's
theses which are NOT available via UMI
(mostly I've been looking at older theses, but let's apply this to *any*
theses).

Thanks in advance,
Renee
