Re: Help

Jennifer,

We recently bought a bottle of that "Goo Gone" stuff and used it on a cotton t-shirt belonging to my son. He had some really icky sticky price and size tags stuck to the front of the shirt that just would not launder off (it was a brand new shirt). The gooey stuff completely came off and there were NO stains! Of course, make certain to test the stuff on some other (disposable) shirt before trying it on the one you want to keep.

In my past life as a professional picture framer, we always hand-stitched fabric items (just taking stitches here and there, enough to secure the item). It does a number on your fingers to stitch through fomecore or matboard, but it can be done. This is very easily reversed, if the need arises to remove the piece. We just used either cotton thread, or quilting-strength thread, whatever the weight of the item called for.

Good luck, hope this helps!

Help! I have a cotton t-shirt from the mid 1970s that was framed using
double-sided tape that has now congealed into sticky goo on the shirt. Does
anyone know of a product or method that will remove this junk without ruining
the fabric? I know the shirt is not old by normal standards, but this
particular shirt is significant to our corporate collection. Would appreciate
any suggestions.
