Dr. Harlan B. Phillips

Dear Archives Listserv colleagues,

I would appreciate help in learning about Dr. Harlan Buddington
("Bud") Phillips. Born in 1920, he became a 20th century U.S.
historian. Dr. Phillips obtained a Ph.D. from Columbia in 1954.
During the 1950s, he conducted the Columbia Oral History Project
interviews with Justice Felix Frankfurter. (Excerpts were published
in 1960 as _FF Reminisces_.) He also, for the COHP, interviewed
Justice Robert H. Jackson and Governor Thomas E. Dewey.
Phillips apparently left Columbia in the 1960s. It is rumored that he
then lived near Malaga, New Jersey, and that he did some teaching
in New Jersey. He apparently died around 1980. I have been
unable to find any Phillips publications following his dissertation
and the Frankfurter book. He also does not show up on NEXIS.

Thanks for your help. Replies off list would be fine.

JQB
