Summer 2002 Archival Internships


The Historical Resources Department of the American Red Cross (ARC) educates
people on the rich history and ongoing humanitarian activities of the
organization. The ARC has an extensive historical collection that documents
the organization's role in world events since its founding in 1881.

We are offering two unpaid internships for 20 hours a week for 10 weeks
beginning in June and ending in August. The internships may be used to
satisfy curriculum requirements.

Scope of Work: Working with the archivist, the intern will conduct
arrangement and description of the archival collections at the Hazel Braugh
Records Center and Archives (HBRCA). Responsibilities include sorting,
stabilizing, re-housing, and entering the records into our Past Perfect
System collection database.  The collections include organizational papers,
photographs, scrapbooks, letters, and journals.

Internship Requirements: Individual must be currently enrolled in a graduate
program. The preferred candidate would be an archival student in a history
or library and information studies program.  Basic computer skills are
