Who uses archives?

Who uses archives?

For a study that looks at what we know about the users of archives, I
mailed (this November) a questionnaire to some 100 repositories in England
and the US Since then I have heard from twice as many British archives as
those here in the US I write now to ask the help of any US archivists
who may have received the questionnaire, and of others who might
now consider participating.

The questions asked are very brief, and basically deal with the type of
statistics kept in 1900, 1945, 1965, and 1999. If you would be willing
to answer such a questionnaire and/or would be willing to share
information and ideas about record keeping in archives -- how the
cobbler keeps his/her own shoes, so to speak, please reply privately to
me.

Thank you,
