Money is being used worldwide in "IPDC grants
funds to 57 media projects worldwide.  March 28, 2000
- The Intergovernmental Council of UNESCO's
International Programme for the Development of
Communication (IPDC) ended its 20th session at
UNESCO Headquarters on March 24 with a decision
to allocate in 2000 US$1,802,000 to 57 media projects
in developing countries.  During the session, state-owned
Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam was awarded the
UNESCO/IPDC Prize for Rural Communication for its
Kiswahili programme Twende Na Wakati (Let's Move
with the Times) which addresses a wide range of topics
including family planning, the education of girls, mother
and child care, the fight against domestic violence and
cultural discrimination as well as AIDS."
