Title: Museum Specialist/Archivist, EG-09

District of Columbia Public Schools

Salary Range ($28,768-$37,039 p.a.)

Duties: Custodian of all historical D.C. Public Schools' material and memorabilia; provides information and research assistance to all who inquire regarding DC Public Schools history (1804-present) including researchers and scholars from within the school system and general public. Develops exhibits of historical nature and works with the Exhibits Curator on other exhibits. Establishes professional relationships and intellectual exchanges with the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. Library and the Washingtoniana Division of the D.C. Public Library. Works with D.C.P.S. Office of Technology on website changes and updates. Is responsible for layout, design and preparation of some Sumner publications, especially the "Sumner Bell"--Sumner's monthly calendar listing of events, activities and exhibits (Sept. - June). Arranges for and seeks additions to the Sumner archival collection.

Qualification standards:
Incumbent must have a bachelor's degree (BA or BS) and some work experience in information, research, library or archival work. Knowledge of Windows 98, Microsoft 2000 (professional edition) and Access will be helpful. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
