23rd Annual Conference on Black History in PA



The Conference on Black History in Pennsylvania is an annual event
focusing on difference aspects of Pennsylvania's African American
Heritage.   It will be held Harrisburg, PA, April 27-29, 2000.

The 2000 program has been organized to address issues relating to
the theme "African Americans at the Capital: Making History."  The
Conference includes some of the latest scholarship on the subject, as
well as artistic performances and discussion by educators, community
leaders, public officials and others.  The  keynote address speaker is
John Hope Franklin author of _From Slavery to Freedom: A History of
Negro Americans_.

Vendors will be on hand to make recent historical and cultural
publications and other materials available.
