Job Title: Archivist
Location: Zibiwing Cultural Society, Department of Cultural Resource Mgt.
Supervisor: Director of Ziibiwing Cultural Society
Wage: Wage Scale E-4 $31,388 per year ($15.09/hr);
31% fringe benefits
Preference: In accordance with Indian Preference Laws

Qualifications: Bachelor degree or higher, preference in librarianship or
information
science with course work in archival management.
Must possess
technical and practicial organizational skills as it
relates to data facts and retrieval systems of
information. Familiarity with electronic resources, the
Internet, and online searching. Five years experience in
related field preferred. Understanding of descriptive bibliography
and archival techniques, and the basic reference sources.
Demonstrate strength in oral and written communications. Ability
to supervise and deal effectively with colleagues, patrons,
donors,
and administrators. Knowledge or experience working in
culturally
diverse environment preferred.
Job Description
1. Promote the efficient delivery of reference serves to researchers using
Ziibiwing
Cultural Society (ZCS) materials.
2. Plan, develop, and implement an archival program that meets the needs of
ZCS and the tribal community.
3. Participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of
policies and procedures relating to access services for all researchers in
the department.
4. Coordinate public access policy and procedures as it relates to reference
requests.
5. Administer policies governing use, reproduction, and preservation of
materials.
6. Supervise all activities and staff in the archival area.
7. Coordinate responses to all reference queries.
8. Catalogue, classify, arrange ,and describe reference services, selection
of acquisitions and appropriate preservation activities.
9. Analyze, organize, and create guides for the use of non-book collections.
10. Assist in developing programs for the systematic growth of the
collection.
11. Perform related duties as assigned.
