Online catalogs for museum, library and manuscript collections

Greetings!

I am the assistant librarian/archivist at the Spruance Library of the Bucks
County Historical Society in Doylestown, PA. My main responsibility as of
the moment is cataloging. The library just began using the MARC format in
anticipation of implementing an OPAC sometime in the not-too-distant future.
The curator of the museum would like to be able to link the museum's
collections with those of the library so researchers would be able to access
books, photos, manuscripts and artifacts in one fell swoop. The museum
contains approximately 45,000 artifacts, and is cataloged using "Snap." The
library contains about 22,000 volumes, and a manuscript collection that is
loosely counted at about 10,000 linear feet of paper. With that is the usual
assortment of microfiche, microfilm, serials, maps, newspapers, and ephemera.

Has anyone experience with, or knowledge of, a system with a module for
cataloging artifacts as well as a MARC compatible module for cataloging books
that also allows subject searching between the two? I am at the beginning of
my investigations, and would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks!

Beth Lander
