Re: Old negatives stuck together

Tom and all:

Assuming the negatives are otherwise on good condition, and the emulsions
are stuck together (rather than deteriorating nitrate substrates being stuck
together), the negs may be safely soaked apart in a tray of water at about
70 degrees with a little Photo Flo mixed into it. Don't try to rush the
process: it might take a day or two. Within 12 hours you should see
evidence of the solution penetrating between the negatives and softening the
adhesion between them. If this isn't apparent, something else has caused
them to stick and they are probably inseparable.
