University Archivist Postion



We have just opened a search for a University Archivist and invite the attention of candidates to become part of a Special Collections department staffed by 5 full-time and 3 part-time librarians, 4 full-time support staff and numerous part-time student staff. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.

Appointment will be made at the Librarian I or II level (levels go to IV), salary range of $25,890 - $47,075, based on relevant experience (3+ years) and educational background (graduate degree). Attractive benefits package.

The person joining us will have an unusual opportunity to transform a mature collection into a robust and highly visible service unit. The Archivist oversees intellectual access to the UI archives, including official records and faculty papers (6,000 linear feet); supervises implementation of electronic access and database systems; assists in the development of digital library projects; supervises support and student staff; initiates and manages outreach activities; and serves as a resource person on the history of the University and the Archives.
